Since graduating from the University of Mississippi in 1975, Gary Garland has passionately pursued the skills and sought the wisdom to meet the real estate needs of his clients. In 2024, Gary decided to close Garland Company Real Estate and moved to Oxford where he rejoined Crye-Leike while his daughter Kathryn became Manager of Crye-Leike’s East Memphis Office where Gary’s Tennessee Real Estate license is held.
Recent productions include brokerage of commercial properties in Memphis, TN, Nashville, TN, and Mountain View, Arkansas. Garland served as Director of Acquisitions & Dispositions for Midsouth Developments, LLC focused on Class A Multifamily Developments in the Nashville, TN markets; including a project in Murfreesboro, TN (Annandale Apartment Community – 302 Units), The Park Place Township Apartment Community in Lebanon/Mt. Juliet consisting of 290 Units in Phase 1 and 254 Units in Phase 2 known as The Reunion at Township, as well as City Limits Apartments in Columbia, TN consisting of 254 units.
The previously mentioned Nashville area developments were the result of Gary forming a partnership with longtime client/partner Steve H. Bryan, project developer/general contractor and manager of Midsouth Development, LLC. The investor group was led by Terry Lynch and Karl Schledwitz of Southland Capital of Memphis.
In 1998, Gary began focusing on the real estate development and renaissance of Downtown Memphis. In partnership with Steve Bryan, Jack Belz, and Henry Turley, he helped develop and broker the sale of Harbor Town Square Apartments and Island Park Apartments on Mud Island.
In 1999, he developed Harbor Town Centre, which today is one of Downtown Memphis’ premier examples of the “Live, Work, Play” lifestyle.
In 2002, Gary won Downtown’s “Historic Preservation Award” for the Hotline Lofts at 421 South Main. Hotline was a vintage 1912 heavy timber warehouse renovated into Main Street level retail and converted into fifteen loft apartments, later sold as Hotline Loft Condominiums, with the Blues Museum located on the ground floor.
During his fifty-two year real estate career, Gary Garland’s extensive performance has accomplished an enormous number of closed real estate transactions and has established him as one of the most experienced Realtors in Memphis and now Oxford, MS.
